The Surprising Facts About Angels That Few People Know!

On July 19th, 1952, Lewis and Virginia Stubbs along with their two children hiked up to a fire tower on Mt Washington in New Hampshire. Virginia was pregnant and waited at the base of the tall tower while Lewis and their two sons, George age two and Bob age four went up to visit the ranger. Lewis carried the two year old and the four year old climbed the stairs on his own. At the top Lewis reached up and knocked on the entrance opening in the floor of the tower. The ranger lifted the door and they climbed up into the tiny observation room mounted high up on spindly steel legs. Neither adult thought to close the cover in the floor. Chatting with the rangers and awed by the breathtaking view, Lewis absentmindedly put the baby on the floor, not remembering that the trap-door was open.
Seconds later, down on the ground, the baby's mother sat thunderstruck as she looked up and saw her baby fall through the hole in the floor. Too frightened to scream, paralyzed with fright, she watched the baby fall toward the ground... and then gently stop in mid-air. Suspended by unseen hands, it neither moved, wiggled a toe or even cried out.
An instant later, Lewis, realizing the baby had disappeared, bounded down the steps and grabbed the suspended child out of mid-air! Today and everyday, Lewis and Virginia thank their guardian angel for saving the life of the baby.
The common definition of an angel is a supernatural being created and employed by God to communicate His will to man and to help and assist when men are in need. In the Old Testament, angels warned Lot of the destruction of Sodom as it is recorded in Genesis 19:1," And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them..."
However, angels are not just messengers, they are also fierce warriors, "And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses." 2 Kings 19:35. Also in the Old Testament a prophet was helped by angels as we read in Daniel 6:22, "My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lion's mouths, that they have not hurt me:"
In the New Testament, angels again appear as messengers, Matthew 2:13, "And when they departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, say, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee to Egypt..." Also Jesus often refers to angels, both good and evil, and in their various roles in the lives of men.
Notwithstanding, there are little know facts that will surprise many people. The Old and New Testaments references to angels never mentions them having wings* and... the Bible knows no female angels. Furthermore, angels do not marry, are created beings, are not to be worshipped, will be judged by men, are innumerable and come in varieties of good and evil.
The Old and New Testaments often record the actions of angels on man's behalf. They are a definite part of heaven's hierarchy, and today, men still tell of the ongoing work of angels.

* Creatures are mentioned that have wings, but they are called seraphims and cherubims. See Isaiah 6:2 or Ezekiel 10:5.
